Conclusion of REDiRECT project activities
The REDiRECT project officially concluded its activities on December 31, 2023. After more than three years of research and experimentation, the project leaves behind tools, models, and results that support sustainability and innovation in the ceramics and mining sectors.

The REDiRECT project was presented at the SIMP-SGI-SOGEI-AIV 2023 Joint Conference with a poster dedicated to the transition from the circular economy to a broader approach to sustainability. The initiative is part of the project's research results dissemination activities.
Buddusò: research activities for the implementation of the Regional Plan for Extractive Activities presented
UNISS presented in Buddusò the research activities underway for the recovery of quarry waste and the restoration of abandoned extraction sites, as part of the REDiRECT project. The study supports the implementation of the Regional Plan for Extractive Activities through GIS analysis and proposals for environmental and territorial enhancement.
REDiRECT at the “Riabitare Buddusò” conference
At the conference “Riabitare Buddusò,” UNISS presented some of the ongoing results of the REDiRECT project, highlighting the role of circular processes in the enhancement of granite and the regeneration of the territory. An article from the REDiRECT project dedicated to corporate sustainability along the value chain was presented at the 2023 R&D Management Conference in Seville. The second edition of the seminar “Technological Sustainability Assessment,” aimed at Management Engineering students, was held at Unimore. The meeting explored the Technological Sustainability Index and its operational use within the REDiRECT project, one year after the first edition.

The project team held a seminar entitled “Sustainability and assessment tools” at Gresmalt for students of the Master's Degree in Ceramic Business and Technology. The meeting explored the various dimensions of sustainability and the business monitoring tools developed and studied in the REDiRECT project.
UNISS continues its research in the Buddusò area and strengthens local partnerships
The University of Sassari continues its research activities in Buddusò, exploring the potential of the historic center and local economies. A framework agreement with the municipal administration opens up new strategies for enhancing the historic granite buildings, including through the reuse of quarry waste.
REDiRECT at the 30th National Congress of Commodity Sciences
The REDiRECT project was presented at the 30th National Congress of Commodity Sciences in Bari, with the disclosure of the preliminary results of the LCA analysis developed by UNIMORE. The study examined the modeling of the mining process and the assessment of the environmental impacts associated with the extraction of Eurite.

The article “Beyond the circular economy: efficiency and productivity for Circular Enterprise 4.0,” edited by the REDiRECT Management Committee, has been published in Ceramic World Review. The article proposes an operational vision of the circular economy based on efficiency, productivity, and integration with Industry 4.0 models.
REDiRECT project at the AIAr 2022 Conference with a contribution on the reuse of mining waste
The REDiRECT project was presented at the AIAr 2022 Conference with a poster on the reuse of mining waste in the construction industry. The contribution, developed by the Unical team, was exhibited during the poster session in Padua, as part of the event dedicated to sustainability in cultural heritage.
Seminar | IoT and the circular economy at DiCE Lab
Gresmalt participated in the DiCE Lab webinar dedicated to the role of IoT in the circular economy. During the event, aimed at an international audience, the initial results of the REDiRECT project and the Circular Enterprise 4.0 model applied to the ceramics and mining industry were presented.
Workshop on ceramic mixtures and reuse of waste materials
The Colorobbia Group's Fiorano Technology Laboratory hosted high school students participating in a work-study program for a workshop on ceramic mixtures. The meeting explored the reuse of waste materials and introduced the objectives and activities of the REDiRECT project.

On March 25, at Unimore, the project team held a seminar on technological sustainability assessment, aimed at Management Engineering students. The meeting presented a methodological framework based on Life Cycle Thinking and the Technological Sustainability Index, illustrating its application in the REDiRECT project.

On March 18, the project team held a seminar on economic sustainability assessment at Unimore, aimed at Management Engineering students. The meeting explored Life Cycle Costing, highlighting its strengths and limitations, and introduced alternative approaches that will be developed within the REDiRECT project.
ICARO UNIMORE: students and businesses come together to communicate the circular economy in ceramics
Gresmalt is participating in the ICARO UNIMORE project through REDiRECT, proposing two challenges to teams of university students on the theme of enhancing ceramic mixtures and glazes from the circular economy. The results of the project work will be presented during the final event scheduled for July 2021.
REDiRECT project activities officially launched
The REDiRECT project officially launched its activities on October 1, 2020. The kick-off meeting on October 7 marked the establishment of the Management Committee and defined the tools, timetable, and operating procedures for the launch of the Implementation Objectives.
