On March 21, the project team held a seminar at Gresmalt entitled “Sustainability and Assessment Tools,” aimed at students enrolled in the Master's Degree Program in Ceramic Business and Technology. The meeting was part of the training and dissemination activities related to the REDiRECT project.
The seminar offered a structured overview of the main concepts of sustainability, addressing its various dimensions: environmental, social, economic, and technological. The aim was to provide students with an integrated picture of sustainability applied to the industrial context, highlighting its complexity and the need for a systemic approach.
Starting from the theoretical framework, the project team illustrated how these concepts find concrete application in business activities. In particular, the assessment tools used by Gresmalt for internal monitoring of sustainability performance were presented, highlighting the role of data and indicators in supporting decision-making processes.
The tools illustrated also represent one of the areas of study of the REDiRECT project, which aims to select, adapt, and validate assessment methodologies capable of supporting the evolution of production models towards more sustainable and circular approaches. The discussion with students allowed us to link research activities with the operational practices adopted by the company.
The seminar provided an opportunity for dialogue between education, research, and business, offering students the chance to learn more about the tools and approaches used in real industrial contexts. In this sense, the initiative helped to strengthen the link between the Master's program and the concrete challenges faced by the ceramic sector.
