On 18 March, the project team held a seminar in Unimore entitled "Assessing economic sustainability: an open question" for the students of the "Sustainability of Products and Processes" course (Master's Degree in Management Engineering).
The seminar provided an in-depth look at the topic of economic sustainability, which is complex and generally not widely discussed, but extremely relevant to the REDiRECT project. Starting from the definition of economic sustainability, the team illustrated the Life Cycle Costing tool, one of the best known methodologies for assessing economic impact.
From theory to operational application, the team showed the strengths and main limitations of the tool.
Finally, alternatives to the tool were presented and will be further developed during the REDiRECT project.
