The University of Sassari (Uniss) was founded in 1562 with its main seat in Sassari and courses also in Alghero, Olbia, Nuoro and Oristano. The population of about 13.000 students places Uniss nationally among medium-sized universities.

With its 10 departments, 40 interdisciplinary research centers, 12 libraries, and more than 780 professors and researchers, Uniss offers training in the humanities and science both in presence and distance.

In REDiRECT, the Department of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning, the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy, the Department of Biomedical Sciences, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Department of Economics and Business were involved.
