REDiRECT | Overview
REDiRECT is an Industrial Research and Experimental Development Project promoted by Gruppo Ceramiche Gresmalt and Eurit in collaboration with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the University of Calabria and the University of Sassari.
The Project is co-funded by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT), started its activities on October 1, 2020 with an expected duration of 36 months.
Gresmalt and Eurit are important players in the value chain of the ceramic sector, representing respectively the tile manufacturing industry and the mining industry that supplies raw materials to the sector.
The two companies together with the Universities aim to design, implement and validate a new model of Circular Enterprise 4.0 that integrates the best practices of the Circular Economy with the digital transformation of production facilities, using the technologies of Industry 4.0.
REDiRECT also plans to use the digital transformation of processes as an enabling factor to move from the traditional linear business model, typical of the mining and ceramics industries, to an innovative circular business model that includes in the value proposition of the two companies the four dimensions of sustainability: environment, society, economy and technology.
REDiRECT therefore intends to provide concrete solutions to overcome the theoretical, operational and managerial barriers that hinder the implementation of circular economy in production chains.
