Presentation of ongoing activities for the implementation of the Regional Mining Plan

On the occasion of the presentation of the Local Development Plan promoted by the Municipality of Buddusò, UNISS presented the ongoing activities related to the research aimed at identifying new intervention methods for the recovery of quarry waste and the rehabilitation of disused quarry sites (WP 7). One of the objectives was to implement the indications of the 2007 Regional Mining Plan.

In this study, the new perimeter of the quarry sites, divided into active and inactive quarries for operational reasons, was considered. Their representation in GIS provides a snapshot of the quarry sites, capable of integrating qualitative (vegetation and water bodies), morphological (orography) and quantitative (waste potentially reusable as secondary raw materials) information. Proposals for environmental and/or cultural tourism rehabilitation will then be made on this basis.
