Raw materials supply

The REDiRECT Project aims, among the many WP, to identify and validate systems and models for the proper use and exploitation of national geo-resources from both primary and secondary sources for their use in the ceramic industry and architecture (WP 2).

This objective acquires a vital importance in a scenario where there is a difficulty in the supply of raw materials, in logistic and economic terms. At present, should the shortage of raw material availability continue, together with the strong and growing demand, importing companies foresee an exhaustion of stocks in about 1-2 months.

For this reason, the identification of local geo-resources to be used as substitutes, in whole or in part, to critical raw materials would meet the needs of local industry which depends, for a good part, on the import of foreign raw materials.
