As previously mentioned, parallel to the design and experimentation of the aerial photogrammetric surveying technique using drones, the development of an application for AR visualization of the temporal evolution of geomineral sites has been initiated by Unical.
AR technology, combined with 3D geovisualization methods, can provide significant support in monitoring extraction activities at geomineral sites. In fact, the excavation process requires a monitoring methodology that can provide a comprehensive and accurate overview of the progress of the work.
The main purpose of this research activity is the development of an AR application aimed at on-site visualization and representation of morphological information related to resource exploitation and/or extraction activity planning. The idea is to use AR technology to display different layers corresponding to different temporal phases overlaid on the visualization of the current state of the quarry.
