Searching for the best manufacturing configuration for Circular Factory 4.0

Within the REDiRECT project, Gresmalt wanted to respond to the challenge of implementing circularity in the operating environment by moving from abstract statements of circular economy to factory reality.

Despite the difficulty of adopting the 4Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover) approach in an industrial setting, as these concepts are best suited to individual materials, semi-finished and/or finished products, through the adoption of an organizational analysis approach, a circularity evaluation system was developed based on the concepts of productivity (Doing more with the same), efficiency (Doing the same with less) and effectiveness (Doing more with less). Through this system, the different procurement scenarios identified by UNIMORE will be evaluated in order to identify the best circular factory 4.0 production configuration.
