Uniss is continuing its study and research activities on the methods for the environmental restoration of disused quarry sites (WP 7 of the REDIRECT Project) in line with the general research objectives related to the reuse and valorisation of quarry waste.
Starting with an examination of the current regulatory framework of the sector, the administrative status of the quarry sites and the possibility of reusing waste is being verified.
More in-depth investigations are being carried out on some disused quarry sites by means of drone reconnaissance and aerial photos. The aim is to characterise the sites by morphology and volume of the waste present to be reused in environmental redevelopment projects through solutions aimed at potential contemplative and recreational purposes.
