The first part of this activity involved the mineralogical, petrographic and chemical study of the secondary raw materials taken from the identified mining sites with the aim of selecting products with suitable characteristics to be reused and valorised in the ceramic manufacturing industry.
Detailed analyses were also carried out to verify the chemical composition of the feldspathic minerals (using scanning electron microscopy analysis), which represent the largest percentage within the rock composition. Of the total samples analysed, approximately 20% were found to be compliant for use as such, fully meeting the requirements defined in the development plan.
