Study of circular materials

UNIMORE's activities concerning the study of new formulations for porcelain stoneware ceramic mixtures continue. The activity aims to contribute to the ceramic industry's transition to a circular economy by introducing various secondary raw materials (SRM) into the mixtures, which in this context move from waste to resource. The outbreak of war in Ukraine in February 2022 had a major impact on the activity, forcing UNIMORE to reevaluate the studied mixtures in order to reduce the supply risk and compensate for the problems due to the interruption of the supply chain. The obtained mixtures were then studied from the point of view of technological properties in order to make sure that the products achieve the quality standards imposed by current regulations.

The same activity is currently underway on glaze and engobe mixtures.
